Duration: 2 days, 8am till 6pm
Location Overview: With its iconic buildings in the city and bridges along the River Thames, London has a wealth of stunning locations and compositions for the fine art long exposure photographer. Join me and let me guide you through the city to some of my personal favourite shooting locations, with my in depth knowledge gained from shooting them many times over the years.
What you will learn: A complete and comprehensive overview for shooting and processing B&W long exposure fine art photography using neutral density filters and grads. Learn to create bold and beautiful compositions for architecture and cityscapes. Learn my in-camera settings to achieve clean and sharp images ready for post processing, learn how to use live view manual focusing, understand depth of field and hyperfocal distance to get the maximum sharpness from your lens and out of your RAW files. Learn my technique for accurately calculating long exposure times to get perfectly exposed images using 16 stop filters and grads, Learn how to correctly read histograms to get the most out of your RAW files, Learn my B&W post processing workflow for my published images
Post Processing: Learn my technique for processing fine art black and white long exposure photography, a complete step by step guide and instructions for my black and white post processing workflow, from RAW files to published Image using Photoshop CC, Lightroom CC, Nik Silver Efex Pro and DxO Optics pro 10.
Topics include: RAW conversion, Luminosity Masking, How to make accurate selections in Photoshop, B&W Processing in Silver Efex Pro, B&W Gradient Maps, Photoshop Channels and Layers, Alpha Channel Selections, Selective Gradient Masking, Apply Image masking, Levels and Curves, Dodging and Burning Layers, and Final Output Sharpening. My B&W speed processing workflow using Lightroom CC.
Camera Equipment: You will need a DSLR or Mirrorless Camera that has BULB mode, your favourite lenses, most of my images are shot using a 35mm lens, a sturdy tripod, remote shutter release, 10 stop filter, a 6 stop filter, or a 16 stop filter, and spare batteries. A laptop can be brought along on the second day for post processing directly to your machine.
I do have spare ND filters if needed, please let me know your requirements.
